How do we measure on the wealth scale?
The Real Measure of wealth is how much youd be worth if you lost all your money - Bernard Meltzer When I first read the quote above, it immediately felt right on. As a student of success, I still wanted more perspective to understand my own strengths and weaknesses better. At a few points in my life,I thought I was doing OK, but I have since learned that I was measuring real wealth wrong. This was a wakeup call for me. Sure--by many definitions, my family and I are healthy and our assets are 7-figures higher than our liabilities. Thats good, right? Not so much.

Your Search Marketing Channel
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) may be one of the largest and most un-tapped opportunities for your company. SEO is best described and making your site search engine friendly. How much business can you earn from SEO? Potentially millions. The cost/benefit ratio of SEO is likely to out-produce your top salesman and could potentially do more business than your entire marketing department. Will SEO work for every type of company and product? No. But I havent found one yet that couldnt benefit tremendously from it. Where do you start with SEO? The funny thing is that elements of SEO can be...

Leadership Check-Up
I get asked a lot what it takes to succeed. With perseverance and attitude at or near the top, leadership has got to be a close second. If you dont have it, you are likely working alone or only with paid employees, family and the closest friends. That will severely limit your success. Leadership cannot be bought and it is not something like authority which you can be assigned by another person. Youve either earned it or you havent. If you want the immense benefits of what leadership has to offer, then theres no better time to start earning it than right now. Before you start, let me sav...

The "I'm Not-Technical" Excuse
Well now this is a big topic. If youre here, you must have some interest in Web marketing yourself. In any case, youre here and thats what matters. Youre gathering data and developing expertise in your field. Many people think that Web marketing and web technology is something they can just hire and fire their way through. They think that their good judge of character and common sense is enough. I dont believe this is a safe assumption. Successful CEOs and organization leaders can no longer get by with minimal Web marketing expertise. The Web marketing channel is too large, too da...

The Management Dashboard
Over the years Ive employed several highly regarded CEO coaches to kick my ass, point out my management weaknesses and suggest strategies to improve teamwork, productivity and sales growth in my company. One of the most basic, common and effective coaching techniques I noticed being used over and over was identifying their clients weaknesses through asking a series of basic questions.

Management Principles
Most small businesses rely on their owners strengths and day-to-day management presence to get by. Ive been one of the worst offenders I know, but my awareness of this tendency gives me a chance to beat it with the right systems. This is one area of my leadership I intend to perfect. Ive had it both ways and seen the benefit of getting it right a few times. While ownership presence is effective at times when the CEO can be involved in all things, it doesnt empower management to run the company without them. The objective of most company owners or CEOs is to have a team in place that can...

Where has respect gone in Network Marketing?
This is a great article from my partner Rob Greenstein. Check it out. Where has respect gone in Network Marketing? People seem to think that because technology provides them with the capability to do something, that they are free to do it. You know that guy who blabbers on his cell phone in the middle of the restaurant, or the movie theater, annunciating his drivel at decibel levels better suited for the ballpark? As long as his counterpart can hear what he has to say, the heck with the rest of us. He can do it because the technology permits him to do it, but etiquette says otherwi...

MLM Corporate Website Mistakes
I strategize and consult with various MLM company owners and team leaders on an almost daily basis. We often talk about this same topic. First, Ill review their website and marketing collaterals. What I look for is whether they are breaking one of the fundamental relationship marketing rules, which is: communicating to customers and distributors in the same way and on the same marketing pieces. You see it often on so many company websites, tag lines and mission statements that were all desensitized to it.

Cold Marketing on a Tight Budget
Network marketing is very commonly built person-to-person though relationships, face-to-face recruiting and active networking. The game is attracting fellow entrepreneurs and customers to buy the companys products. Some people are able to amass fortunes developing huge networks of representatives without ever doing any traditional advertising (cold marketing). When I first got started, I did not have any confidence in my ability to develop a large network through typical face-to-face relationship marketing.

Does Network Marketing Work?
Does it work? Hmmm. Yes, for sure it works. Top executives dream of the kind of growth only a person-to-person network marketing distribution channel can create. In addition, there are only two kinds of entrepreneurs: (1) The kind of entrepreneur who would love to earn the kind of residual income that only a network marketing, rock stars and inventors can create. (2) A fake entrepreneur

Million Dollar Websites for Pennies (on the dollar)
In the late 90s our initial website development conversations started at around $50,000 and actual proposals were commonly being drawn in the $250,000 range. This was not just us, it was happening all over the country. By the time clients made the typical numerous changes and added features to their vision, there were million-dollar+ websites being born. That was the norm back then. As time went on and technology got better, we could eventually develop complex database-driven websites for under $100,000. Today, many of those same complex database-driven websites can be profes...

Lead with the System!
Which came first; the chicken or the egg? For network marketers, there is a famous variation of the question which has been debated for decades, but has never been satisfactorily resolved. If you have been in the industry for any length of time, you have been asked it by your downline. If you are new, it may have recently been muttered from your very own lips with your the answer so fleeting and floating in limbo, your need for fulfillment clearly going unquenched.

In Search of a Prospecting System
In 1995 I got into network marketing to make money. A whole lot of money. I was cursed with big, big dreams that would not go away. I found out at an early age that to make an above-average income, I needed to own my own business. I also found out at an early age that I was not going to get rich with a traditional service business - I tried!

Mass-Marketing Advicefrom the Sea. My passion for fishingwas at one time only surpassed for mypassion for business. To me, there is nothing like the thrill of racing out on the open sea at full throttle to face the uncertainty of a days battle against nature. Its hard work--waking up at 3:00 AM, lugging the days supplies, preparing the rigs, getting bait and gas, fighting the resistant sea for hours on end--maybe hooking a big one, maybe not. Then, you have to clean it all up at the end of the day and haul everything home. Its expensive, too--the boat itself, the slip rental, and countle...

Following Up - Made Easy
If there is one outstanding reason for failure in this business of network marketing, it is the lack of thorough follow-up. Networkers spend their days doing anything and everything to drive people through some form of presentation mechanism - online, in-home, hotel meeting, teleconference, audio-in-the-mail, or eyeball-to-eyeball in the coffee shop with a pocket flip chart. They do all this, only to drop the ball at the most critical part of the prospecting life cycle: follow-up.
